Hi, my name is Cassie
I started bringing my camera on hikes around the Pacific Northwest and my journeys overseas. Its been with me up mountainsides and ridges, through meadows and forests, over the Atlantic Ocean, under the auroras of Iceland. While in Dallas in 2024 to photograph the total solar eclipse I wondered if I could bring to the MotoGP race in Austin that weekend. After shooting a wild three day race from the stands, the idea to start shooting motorcycle races began and so True North was born.
Spending summers hiking mountains, exploring lush forests and deep river valleys, it is easy to see why my heart would be here. The name True North is honoring the thousands of acres of the northwest wild where the human spirit meets nature. The soul of True North is art of noticing.
The art of noticing is about slowing down and seeing the beauty in the overlooked. Every frame, whether the 1/2000ths of a second in a motorcycle race to the the long exposure of an aurora, tells a story. Every shadow holds meaning, and the in the stillness, I find the extraordinary hidden in the ordinary.
